Youth Pavilion – Urban Culture Centre in Feroviarilor Park

Parcul Feroviarilor Street

In the heart of Feroviarilor Park in Cluj-Napoca, the Youth Pavilion is a modern space dedicated to the community. Cultural events, exhibitions and meetings take place here, in a place steeped in history, restored to the city through energy, dialogue and creativity. It is also a strategic space for carrying out activities within the European URBACT and EU projects, with the aim of strengthening a local ecosystem of social innovation. The Youth Pavilion is the seventh cultural objective administered by the Urban Culture Centre Department of Cluj-Napoca City Hall. The other urban culture centres in Cluj-Napoca are the Casino in Central Park, the Tailors' Tower, the Firefighters' Tower and the Dacia and Mărăști cinemas.
Railway Park is located on the site of the former hay and animal market from the early 20th century, which was transformed with minimal improvements in the 1960s into a neighbourhood garden. In the 1980s, it was home to the "Children's Town", equipped with a station and railway for a narrow-gauge train. American hero Buffalo Bill included the Railway Park in his tour, with a show scheduled for 18 and 19 July 1906. During the communist era, children enjoyed the park throughout the year and around the winter holidays, fascinated by the colourful train that ran through the extremities of the park. It included a 0.76 km railway loop and a small station for boarding and disembarking. Currently, a successful architectural project, Parcul Feroviarilor is one of the most attractive green areas in Cluj.
