Ștefan Iordachi

Ștefan Iordachi was born in 2009 and began studying the cello under the guidance of Professor Ani Marie Paladi at the "Iosif Sava" Secondary School of Arts in Bucharest. He is currently a student at the George Enescu National Music College in Bucharest, under the same guidance. He has participated in recitals organised in Romania and abroad (Prague, Siena, Berlin, Zagreb) and has played at the Berlin Philharmonic with David Geringas' Chamber Orchestra, under the baton of the maestro.

Alongside his established cello repertoire, Ștefan Iordachi approaches chamber music with the same passion. He has participated in masterclasses with Marin Cazacu, David Geringas, Andrei Ioniță, Denis Severin, Atanas Krastev, Ștefan Cazacu, Valentin Răduțiu, Bruno Cocset, Marc Coppey, Reinhard Latzko, László Fenyő and Ion Storojenco.

Beyond his passion for the cello, Ștefan is open to other forms of knowledge, finding inspiration in both the visual arts and the technical and scientific fields. He is attracted to drawing, especially the graphic style, where he combines precision and imagination. He is also passionate about aeromodelling and car modelling, building dynamic models, fields that stimulate his creativity and curiosity.

He is a laureate of important international competitions for cellists, such as the Grunewald International Music Competition, Berlin, 2024 – first prize; International Klaipeda David Geringas Cello Competition, Lithuania – first prize; “Antonio Janigro”, Croatia – first prize; “Jan Vychytil”, Prague – first prize; “Gustav Mahler”, Czech Republic – first prize and jury president’s prize; “David Popper”, Hungary – third prize; VIII Stockholm International Music Competition – first prize.
