Ștefan Șimonca-Oprița

Ștefan Șimonca-Oprița, born in Arad in 2000, is a Romanian student with international recognition and awards. He is a master's student and graduate of HfM (University of Music, Saarbrücken, Germany) and a graduate (2019) of the “Sabin Drăgoi” College of Art in Arad, Romania. He studies violin with David Grimal (creator of the orchestra Les Dissonances) and chamber music with Krzysztof Chorzelski (member of the Belcea Quartet). He studied violin with Artemiu Șimonca, Mihaela Tomescu and other teachers from Romania, UK, Germany and USA. He was also soloist of the PKF Prague Philharmonic Orchestra (2017, conductor Leoš Svárovský) and soloist of several national orchestras in Romania and has performed concerts and recitals in the Czech Republic, Hungary, UK, Germany, Luxembourg, Romania and other countries.
Since 2017 he has been a member (occasionally and concertmaster) of the orchestra Les Dissonances, created by David Grimal, playing together in many tours in France, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Romania, Belgium, Italy and other countries. He has won national and international violin competitions, including the Grand Prize at the International Violin Competition “Remember Enescu” in Sinaia, Romania (2017), the 2nd Prize at the International Violin Competition “Franco Gulli” in Rome (2024), the 2nd Prize (1st Prize not awarded) at the International Violin Competition “Walter Gieseking” in HfM Saar, Germany (2017). He also plays violin and piano and is passionate about composition and conducting.
